Retailers say ready to discuss food transportation prices

MOSCOW, Aug 24 (PRIME) – The Association of Retail Trade Companies (ACORT), is ready to discuss the prices for road transportation of food, an ACORT spokesperson told PRIME on Tuesday.

Deputy PM Victoria Abramchenko has instructed the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture to study the situation with the cost of road transport of food and to work out measures to reduce the prices for transport services.

The association said that pricing is a multifactorial market process in which rising costs, even at one stage of the supply chain, inevitably affects the retail price.

“Reducing prices requires involvement of all market players, including manufacturers, suppliers, logistics companies and retailers,” ACORT added.

The governmental meeting earlier discussed measures for planning agricultural production, development of logistics infrastructure, access of agricultural producers to different formats of trade in a number of regions.
